Roots
by Sam M. Phillips
Move maiden,
Tend trading,
Succulent succour though membrane slice,
Stutter the essence,
The presence of life
In water,
Finding fat mouths,
And round bodies,
Twisting and growing,
Swelling with moisture,
Round a fractal crown,
A river delta underground,
Held fast in fibrous pipes,
Tubes of celluloid,
Pressure fills the void,
Expand and grow,
Burrow, and know,
Fingers of a greater hand,
Message of God,
Wooden lightning strike,
The roots of a tree spread underground,
Vast nerve network,
City scape,
Tunnel king,
Burrow master,
Digs down,
Holds fast,
Supports the tree,
The tree supports the roots.
