Homunculus
by Sam M. Phillips

Bright sunlight,
Night passes,
Morning drives,
Contrives
Sick substance dives,
Subsist and dismissed.

Chivalrous chirping chokes,
Choice cloister,
Closed clone,
Ducks a duet,
Dull and duly dumped,
Dead in drone dirge,
Looting and lopsided,
Loose and short sighted.

Horizontal hinge,
Hung up on hormones,
Horny horde,
Hopping mad,
Copping bad,
Sing sadly,
Honour the homologous homunculus,
The detritus
That smothers us,
Cuts me up,
Gate gapes shut,
Slide down
Into a rut,
And stay there,
Never moving,
Just wishing
For more,
Or anything.
