Broken System
by Sam M. Phillips

I am very sensitive,
Shy and pensive,
Reprehensive of my faults,
The world jolts,
Brain bolts before torment,
Torrent of information overloads,
My head explodes,
Exposed,
Feel disposed of,
Dropped off the end of society ladder,
Am I bad or just strange?
Need to rearrange my thinking,
The thoughts I’m linking unnecessary,
A propensity to fear,
Clear away debris
In a hope to become free,
Why are we all like this?

Miss some simple time,
Before slime made things so slick,
I’m sick,
Backed up and choking,
Provoking passion,
Want to smash them,
Frustration moves to anger,
An angle opens,
Propels me to revolt,
Jolt system,
Piston pumping,
Jumping to action,
Wish to catch them out,
Shout crimes of leaders,
Bottom feeders,
Succeeders to the throne,
Cannot condone what they do.

No wonder we feel blue,
Wouldn’t you?
Trapped down here,
Scavengers pumped with fear,
It is clear to me
That this is the way politicians want it to be,
We’re not free,
We’re caught up,
In a system beyond our control,
Brought up and told to find a role,
Yet soul isn’t in it,
We’d like to find the cause,
Pin it down,
But it can’t be found,
Leaders point and blame,
Flame lit under rabble,
Scrabble to deny,
Why do we believe?
They only deceive,
No reprieve,
No fair play,
Surely this isn’t the only way.
