Common
by Sam M. Phillips
Feeling sonder,
Wonder what you think,
Link my experience to yours,
Laws govern,
A coven of common ground,
Found by delving inside,
I cannot hide myself,
Despite trying,
But there is no lying,
Buying into opinions,
Pinions stretch,
Latch onto common thread,
Your head is my head,
We’re all dead together,
Tether ties tight,
We just might learn
If we discern
We are the same,
Your brain is my brain,
Your pain is my pain,
We all feel the same strain,
The effort of living,
Of giving ourselves to this shared reality,
Calamity in common,
Summon the strength,
Go to any length
To give you all I have,
We will not starve,
We don’t seek to carve,
Private kingdom,
True wisdom
Is that we are one,
All made of particles
From the sun.
