Dragon
by Sam M. Phillips

Dragon dreams,
Screams of minions,
Pinions of wings crack,
Beast moves to attack,
Track its flight path
By the shadow it’s cast,
It goes past,
A vast horror,
Terror fills the heart,
Start to run,
Fun for the hunter,
The haunter hovers,
Covers you in flames,
No more games,
He blames you for dying so easily,
Your cooked corpse goes down greasily,
There better be more like you,
He’s keen to make a stew,
And melt a couple down for glue,
Another few,
Maybe five,
He wants to keep alive,
To run about free-range,
Just for a change,
Strange how I thought I was truly free,
But he’s sure to come for me.
