Deform Conform
by Sam M. Phillips
Results disastrous,
Hazardous fruitless mission,
Division of skies,
Bird cries,
Flies away,
Stray life form among the desolation,
A dislocation,
A ministration of hatred,
Martyred nation,
Destruction comes in cycles,
Pattern particles,
Articles of cloth,
Moth transforms into third form,
Deform,
Conform,
Forlorn hope to be free,
Wizardry,
Heraldry,
Painting depicting me,
This curse afflicting me,
Directing me,
Detecting my faults,
The vaults of suffering I try to seal,
Peel back the layers,
Hangers on,
Prolong all this grief,
Belief rocked,
Blocked by harsh events,
Deterrents,
Determinants,
Determined ants march,
Starch collar stiff gait,
Bait to draw the enemy out,
We expect a rout,
Attack when you hear the shout,
It’s about to happen,
Grab a weapon,
Join in,
We’re winning,
Keep grinning,
Give them a grilling,
Blood spilling,
What a killing,
Such a thrilling spectacle,
The full theatrical experience,
See the bodies dance,
I’m in a trance,
No chance to act,
Pact to keep me alive,
Now I know I’ll survive
I relax,
Kick back,
Hack apart a few foes,
Deliver some death blows,
Who knows?
Maybe I’m a god,
I move good,
I should be worshipped,
Or horsewhipped,
Or death gripped,
I’ve slipped,
Ripped apart my own ideals,
All this writing steals,
Life deals me a mixed hand,
I’ve done what I can with it,
Do my best to deal with it.
