Direction
by Sam M. Phillips

It doesn’t matter if I have nothing to say,
I’ll write a poem anyway,
Play the lines out,
I’ll discover what this poem’s about.

I shout as I stub my toe,
Pain glow,
Row of thorny flowers,
Towers of nature among the grass,
Hanging drops of water shine like glass.

Bask in the glory,
Nature tells a story,
Everything symbolic,
Creatures frolic
At my feet,
Makes my soul
Feel complete.

I take a seat,
Have a bite to eat,
A treat to release me from my burden,
Certain to ease pain,
So I can ascertain
Which way I should be walking,
And in which manner I should be talking.
