Bubbles
by Sam M. Phillips

Watch the bubbles form,
Deform light
So that we might
See their oil slick rainbow,
Glow of many colours,
Tracing spherical contours,
My brain assures
Me the bubbles are there.

I stare,
But I’m unaware
Of any substance,
Only transmittance
Of light, bending
Around an object, sending
Its Morse code lighthouse flash,
I stash the memory,
So I might be able to see
A bubble any time I fancy.
