Smokescreen
by Sam M. Phillips
Sidestepping madness can be tricky,
So I can’t be too picky
About the methods I employ,
I deploy a smokescreen
To obscure my daydream.
Obscene visions,
Schism opening in my head,
Wishing I were dead,
These thoughts have led
Me nowhere useful,
I don’t find them helpful
Except to create this art,
Perhaps I embedded them from the start.
