Compulsive Desires

Obsessive,
Oppressive,
Impressive power,
Cower before devil,
Personification of evil,
Weevil gnawing,
Thought-form boring
Its way into my mind,
Unleashing unkind images,
Malefactor mirages,
Battle barrages,
Cavalry charges,
Lance tip penetrates,
Point against ribs grates,
The enemy baits
Me with taunting word,
I find their view absurd,
I’ve heard it all before,
It does not score
Points with me,
I’m able to see
Beyond their scope,
A secret weapon to cope
With existence,
My resistance
To attack grows,
My halo glows,
God knows me,
He shows me
A way to get through another day,
I slay
My compulsive desires,
Stack their bodies on funeral pyres.
