Sweets
by Sam M. Phillips

I love sweets,
Nothing competes
With the powerful flavour,
Far too wonderful,
I savour the taste,
Don’t waste a moment,
No need to torment
Myself for this indulgence,
It’s my last chance to do so
Now that drugs have got to go.

I’m slow to realise
That I idealise
This sugar hit,
And that it
Too is a drug,
Of which I can have too much,
But it brings me such bliss,
A sensation I’d miss,
This sweet kiss
Is my last love,
A gift from above,
Ready to kill me,
Even as it thrills me.
