The Universal Being
by Sam M. Phillips

Reluctance at the circumstance,
Divine providence
Giving me the chance
To put my shoulder to the work,
To reveal the moulder and assert
His will in all we do,
Look inside for the clue,
Through you I speak,
Through I you peek.

Peak of mountains,
Glorious fountains,
Man attains
Higher vision,
Yet always blind,
Spiritual schism,
Can never find
Truth among the mass,
Proof among the crass.

At last
Something may be asked,
We’ve basked
For long periods in bright darkness,
Stark whiteness,
Calling in sparkling colours
To reveal the contours,
My heart pours
Forth fast.

Blast of horn,
Statues adorn
Gilded halls,
Glistening waterfalls,
The man bawls
His eyes out,
Shouts his lungs out,
Turn about
And see,
You’re me,
The universal being,
Capable of seeing.
