Release
by Sam M. Phillips
Obviously I’m not fit for public consumption,
I don’t know why you would make the assumption
I couldn’t market these just anywhere,
I’ll have to do so with care,
If I bear my soul to the world
I’m just asking to have criticism hurled
At my work,
So I need to lurk
In the recesses
Until my head addresses
Some of its more pressing difficulties,
Distressing faculties
Fuming,
Consuming
Too much energy,
Lost in anxiety,
Sobriety hard to handle,
Base bundle of nerves
Deserves attention,
Situation untenable,
Problems undeniable,
I want to be more reliable,
But I’m hurting,
So I’m blurting
All my issues onto this page,
Roiling red hot mass of rage,
Cage closing,
Imposing restrictions,
New directions
Needed to succeed,
I’m willing to bleed
For my art,
But I start
To think this is too much,
Such copious volumes
Consumes my ability
To live normally,
Mentally storming,
Forming new ideas
From my bundle of fears,
It clears it all out,
No need to shout,
It’s about release
In order to find peace.
