Spice
by Sam M. Phillips

I like to create
At a phenomenal rate,
You can’t really sate my thirst
In a single burst.

When I’m at my worst
Is when I create the most,
I coast along on the energy
Of my calamity.

Amity or enmity,
It’s all the same to me,
A dramatic sea
Churns inside of me.

I like to be
In motion,
Express commotion
And then place lotion
On with soothing words.

It girds my soul to new endeavours,
My mind devours
A new book
And then I have a fresh look
On this strange life.

Then I can invent some strife
To spice up my writing,
Lighting the way,
For what I really need to say.
