Mosh Pit
by Sam M. Phillips

Feel frenzy in the mosh pit,
I cannot sit still,
Move in for the kill,
Exercise in will,
Grill human flesh in the heat,
Animal claws tear at meat.

Feat of strength,
Any length
To show devotion,
Emotion of music,
Make me sick.

Pick your battle,
The bones rattle,
Cattle packed,
Bodies stacked,
I’m attacked,
Tracked by weapon,
Pounced upon.

Don a bloody cape,
No escape,
I scrape you from my boot
Your soul my loot,
Your hopes moot.

There’s soot blackening my heart,
Let’s go back to the start,
Cave man violence,
Release your conscience.

No science,
No intellect,
I detect
The vital forces in you.

Don’t stew on your problems,
Conundrums dissolve,
You can’t solve a thing,
So let it go.

You’ll never know
Anything except what’s directly in front,
Your lofty thoughts an affront
To what I seek to achieve.

Do not deceive
Yourself with delusion,
Society is an illusion
We destroy in the mosh pit.
