Temporary Play
by Sam M. Phillips
The feeling grows,
Shows a dark side
I’m unable to hide,
Luckily I can confide
In you through metaphor,
Exorcise the raw
Energies of my body and soul,
Fill my empty bowl.
Hole so wide,
I hear your snide remark,
Contrast so stark
Between what I am
And what you hope you are,
You’re a burning star
With no faults.
Reality jolts,
Bolts thrown on vaults,
Halts your judgement,
Your actions testament
That you’re just as lost.
I see the cost
You pay
For your stay
Here on Earth,
Your birth
A burden,
So certain
To catch up with you.
Like me you have no clue
What is right and wrong,
It’s been so long
Between lives,
The light strives
To grow as it arrives
In yet another vessel.
I am your vassal,
No equal,
Not in the grand scheme,
Certainly not in this dream,
I hear your scream,
A meme floating,
A demon gloating.
Bloating belly,
Knees like jelly,
Our sick thoughts revealed,
Nothing is sealed,
All recorded,
But we’re afforded
Leniency due to blindness,
Born into madness.
Our distress
Must be relieved
But I never believed
We could go to such a length,
I thought we had more strength
But it isn’t so.
None of us know
The heavy blow
We land
With clumsy hand
As the sand
Of this one life flows away,
And we get in line to pay
For the crimes of our stay
In this temporary play.
