I Suffered

by Sam M. Phillips

My whole life feels like an acid comedown,

I feel the pain and placid apathy in the crown

Of my head,

Who are you

To wish me dead?

I push through

Despite all my faults I will be victorious,

Do not laugh for I am serious,

All the deleterious

Deliriums will clear.

.

Come here

So I can reveal my fear,

I’m near to madness,

Distress plain,

Sickness and strain,

Brain fried,

Denied a place in the upper tiers,

I’m not one of society’s dears.

.

As if they’ll ever learn

To discern what I’m really worth,

They’ll never understand the birth

I made way for,

They can’t see their saviour,

Shut your lips!

.

All this rips

Apart my soul,

Takes me further from my goal,

So what if my role

Is one of a delusional

Sensational megalomaniac?

.

I attract

What I contract,

Impact I make,

Take all I can get,

Better yet,

Maybe you’ll see past

All my bombast

And realise I asked

A lot of myself

So you’d have some help.
