Class War

by Sam M. Phillips

Class war sets the waters boiling,

The workers stop their toiling,

Soiling hands with blood,

Unleash the flood

Of poisonous potential,

Sequential order of events,

Vents of society scream in turn,

Watch them stack and burn

All of the best books,

Crooks and bandits,

Press and pundits

Pushing us along,

Sing this propagandist song,

I’ve put my ear out too long,

All of your words wrong

And I’m only glad I’m strong

Enough to resist,

Rising red mist,

Hammer hand,

Scour the land

Of unbelievers,

The revolutionary receivers

Of divine grace,

Arms race

And fossil fuels,

The machine drools

Over its energy supply

As men die to feed

Its never ending greed,

Seed we plant

In rabblerousing rant,

Chorus to chant

As we march

Stiff as starch,

Arch-nemesis,

False synthesis,

The rich demand more

Of the ever suffering poor,

Pass a new law

To keep them down,

This dreary town

Full of working men

Who don’t know when

Or how things may change.
