Pattern Certain to Entertain

My life isn’t very exciting,

Even so, I seem to be biting

Off more than I can chew,

I don’t know how you

Cope with the tasks of life,

It asks me to deal with too much strife,

My mind is rife

With problems as it is,

I guess that is why I’ve simplified,

Defied convention and retreated,

Not defeated,

Just changed,

My priorities rearranged,

I’m not strange,

Or inhuman,

But nor am I normal,

Formal avenues

Provide no clues

For my education,

Any quick demonstration

Is enough for me,

It’s tough to see

People at work each day,

I just want to play,

To have things my own way,

I’d rather lay

Down my life than conform,

The norm

Is not my style,

After a short while

I get so bored,

All my energy stored,

Ready to spring forth,

And bring worth

Into the world,

All my ideas swirled,

And then twirled

Into a pattern

Certain to entertain—

If you like them

You’re probably the same.
