A Human Heart
by Sam M. Phillips
Hand me a tissue
To wipe my nose,
I don’t wish you
And yours any harm,
See the rows
Of graves like a farm?
.
I seek to disarm
You with my tears,
We share the same fears,
I wipe my eyes,
Everyone cries
In the silent
Hours of the night,
We let vent
To the emotions that might
Cause commotions
In our constitutions—
.
Our intuitions
Go into overdrive
To make sure we survive,
But we all arrive
At the same human place,
We all strive
To save face,
But we cannot ignore
What is at the core—
A human heart.
