Do I Doubt?

by Sam M. Phillips

How much longer will this go on?

Can you place a foot wrong?

Have you convinced yourself you are great?

How can you be sure they will not hate

You for you decadence

And self-indulgence?

.

Give me a chance!

I dance with death,

I have to savour my own breath,

Otherwise what’s the point of living?

.

I’m always moving,

Striving towards a goal,

Not really knowing my soul,

None of us do,

Does what I do

Give me a better hope?

.

I’m just trying to cope!

There is a rope in my hand,

And the sand of time is flowing,

I’m growing bored,

I’ve cored myself out,

I’m filled with doubt.
