Boundless

by Sam M. Phillips

How I long for something you are not,

How I burn hot and then cold for you,

You’ll never know what you do to me,

You’ll never know how I long to be free.

.

I see a path through the forest,

I see the path that I detest,

I know what is best for me and what it is wrong,

I know I have held on for too long.

.

Hear this song of my heart and cells

Of my body, the part of me which dwells

Beyond conscious thought, I’m caught

In the web I have I have sought.

.

Time I have bought with lies,

A part of me denies, tries

To be conscious of my deception,

Of this unstable situation.

.

Premonition of power,

You make me cower,

I see the tower as you lower

Yourself to become my lover.

.

Cover me with everything of which I dream,

Make me alive, make life seem

Worth living, I’m giving

Myself to you, always striving.

.

Diving down to keep afloat,

Dead corpse, I bloat,

You gloat over my death,

I give you my last breath.

.

Breadth of love I give to you,

Depth of desire that sees me through,

Glue which sticks you and I,

Our boundless love we try to deny.
