Swim
by Sam M. Phillips
Lost in a wet dream
Of nightmarish proportions,
Emotions flooding over me,
I don’t seem
To be able
To keep my head above water,
I can’t handle
Everyday situations,
Maybe later
There will be actions
I can take,
Can I fake
My way through
This mental stew?
_
Few could realise
What I idealise
Is wrong for me too,
But it’s what I must do,
I don’t have a clue
How I will cope—
Where’s my hope?
Leave this rope
Where it lies,
A part of me denies
That he tries
To do me in—
There’s only one thing to do:
Swim!
