Hover
by Sam M. Phillips

Nameless terror,
Endless error,
Readdress manner,
Spanner in works,
Death stalks,
Forks in road,
I’m a toad,
Explode with poison,
Move into position,
Can’t describe this awful division,
Schism between organs,
Pain fans fires,
Desires taunt,
Ghosts to haunt,
Vaunted hero
Reduced to zero,
Cleared out,
Total rout,
Not about to get up again,
Strain senses,
Fences to keep me in,
Cannot win against anxiety and depression,
I’m repressing,
Distressing my loved ones,
I shoved them away,
They’re not allowed to stay,
They prey on my insecurity,
My propensity to paranoia,
Meet them in the foyer,
Breathing hard in panic,
Manic mind,
Trying to find a way to escape,
Too late,
I’m stuck,
Muck in,
May as well,
Swell with pride,
Hide the fault-lines,
The confines of my mind grind,
Tectonic plates,
Situation grates,
Goads me to madness,
My sadness ruins lives,
The soul strives to fix,
Lost in the mix of civilisation,
Demonstration of chaotic legions,
Tensions erupt,
Abrupt cessation of peace,
Piece of land to fight over,
Hover over my shoulder, father,
Tell me how I could have done better.
